Final Update 2017/Banquet

Updated on 06/10/2022

First of all the banquet is Tuesday, May 23rd.  at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.  Freshmen through Juniors bring a dessert to share.  Also, please bring your own napkins/plates, most items are finger food.

We will be celebrating another great season highlighted by the  boys/girls R2J Championship again!

18 Medals at the state meet!  Top finish by Tatum Rembao with a great triple jump to finish 2nd.  Tatum also joined with Maraia Rubin, Blair Bernhardt and Courtney Bale to podium in the 800 Medley Relay and with Bernhardt , Bale, and Hannah Weinmaster for an outstanding 3rd place finish in the 4 X 200m Relay.  Bernhardt earned a medal in the Long Jump as well, Weinmaster in both hurdle events, and Wendy Dykstra unleashed a big throw to capture a podium finish in the discus.  The Indian's capped the meet with a medal in the 4 X 400 relay with Bernhardt, Bale, Weinmaster, and Claira Gilchrist.  Zach Weinmaster made the podium in the boy's triple jump, and finish just an inch shy of medaling in the long jump.As a sophomore, he will be back to lead, along with Adam Stark, who qualified in multiple events, but was unable to compete, a strong returning boy's team.

A special thanks out to all the athletes, parents, and coaches for your support and contributions this season!  We have some of the best kids in the world and all of you have a role in that.

See you at the banquet!

State Meet

Updated on 06/10/2022

I will keep this short and sweet.  Most of you are aware of the upcoming weather event.  The best I can tell you is to watch www.chsaa.org.  At this point chsaa is saying there is no chance of a schedule change.  There is a lot of discussion about that.  Best plan is to bring warm and dry weatherproof gear and hope the forecasters are wrong.  Bus leave times will be announced at practice, but as of now, they are 6:00 a.m. Thursday and Friday.  Saturday will be just a little later and depends somewhat on which events make finals.

My updates will come from www.chsaa.org. You can get them as fast as I do.

GO Indians!

Week of 5/8-5/12

Updated on 06/10/2022

Congratulations to all the Loveland Athletes on a tremendous conference meet!  The Indians competed with class, dignity, and intensity, making all involved, very proud.

Some Highlights:

The girl's 800 Relay ran the fastest time in the state.  Hannah Weinmaster finished 2nd in both hurdle events, behind only Zoe Gilbertson, one of the top recruits in Colorado.   Blair Bernhardt set a new school and district record with an 18-2  long jump.  Blair also placed in the 100 and 200 meters.  Based on current rankings the Indian's would be sending 4 relays to state along with Bernhardt, Weinmaster, Courtney Bale, 400m, Tatum Rembao, triple jump, Moira Dillow, shot put, and Wendy Dykstra, discus.  Several athletes will make a run a a state qualifying time this weekend at St. Vrain.

For the boy's personal bests were the order of the day with the young Indian's notching a ton.  The hurdlers were great, led by senior, Noah Pangrac.  Zach Weinmaster placed in both hurdle events, putting up a top 15 time in the 110 high hurdles.  Pangrac led sophomores Austin Jenkins, and Weinmaster to placing finishes in the 300 hurdles, Noah's time was 15th in LHS history.  Zac Witman continues to impress in the distance events, placing in the 1600m and hovering right around the state qualifying mark.  Almost all  underclassmen relays made up of some combination of Alex Hershberger, Dominic Mascio, Isaiah Meyers, Austin Ruff, Kaden Morin, Connor Lindgren, Yared Scalise, and Austin Jenkins were able to place in the very competitive league meet.  They will have a  final opportuinity to qualify for state at St. Vrain.  Freshman Mason Adams placed in the pole vault, and senior Michael Teesdale in the shot put.  Both are also right around state qualifying marks.

This week a smaller squad will take to the St. Vrain, last-chance meet to make a final push toward state qualifying.  The St. Vrain Meet is among the state's best and features professional and elite athletes along with some of the best high school talent from all classifications.  The bus will leave Friday at 10:00 a.m.

State Meet is next week Thursday-Saturday!

Finally, our track and field banquet will be May 23rd, at 6:00 p.m.  Freshmen through Juniors bring a dessert to share.  Also, bring your own place settings/napkins.  We will celebrate the many great individuals that make this TEAM special, and their many accomplishments this season.

Thanks again to all of you for your support!  Go Indians!

May Day Update

Updated on 06/10/2022

Happy May Day!  A brief, but hopefully, informative update.

It is conference championship week!

We have our conference championship this week Weds/Friday at French Field in Fort Collins, beginning at 4:00 p.m. each day.  With our busses having a giant shortage, we can only schedule a bus leaving at 1:30 p.m., because it needs to return for routes.  Thus, student/athletes will be allowed to make their own transportation arrangements.  Please, parents, make us aware they are doing so.  (Note or email).  This is to accommodate staying in class and A.P. Testing.  We will still run one bus with equipment and those who cannot arrange a ride, to and from the meet.

We get 4 entries/event at the Conference Championships.  Lineups are posted today.  Anyone who is not on the Conference Roster has completed their season, unless we have made some exception.  JV athletes that would like to travel to conference may do so as part of the team IF they help on one day to administrate an event.  They will also be given team gear to wear and keep.  See Coach, if interested.

The team banquet will either be May 23 or 25.  We will be polling the athletes today and announce shortly.

It is a pleasure to work with your kids as we wrap up another fantastic track and field season...the post-conference newsletter will be much longer.  Have a great day!  Go Indians!

Weekly Update 4/24/2017

Updated on 06/10/2022

Loveland Track and Field

Another week is in the books and another top finish by the Indians!  The Indians wrapped up a busy week by placing both the boy’s and girl’s in the top 3, of 16 teams, at the Randall Hess Invitational.  Coach Laue wrote a nice summary on the team Facebook Page, Loveland Track and Field/Cross Country.  In the interest of brevity, look there, if you want to read about it.

We have a busy week this week, too.  The JV Conference Championships, which are the culminating event for many of our athletes are tomorrow, Wednesday, April 25, at North Stadium at Mountain Range High School.  Student/Athletes who are participating will be excused from classes at 12:15 pm.  The bus will leave at 12:30.  We should return home around 7:00 p.m.  Both the boy’s and girl’s are looking for a top 3 showing!

On Friday, we will bring a squad to the Lobo-Cat Invitational at French Field in Fort Collins.  This meet is primarily to look at athletes and relays prior to the Conference Varsity Championships next week.  We will be unconcerned with team scores, but, as always, looking to gain from the experience.  There will be two separate busses, one will leave LHS at 10:00 a.m.  The second at 11:00 a.m.  We are hoping the weather holds off for this meet.

Here are our top performers, by grade, in each event.

R2J Champions! ***Schedule adjustments***

Updated on 06/10/2022

Indians are R2J Champions for the 18th straight year!

Congratulations to all the Loveland Track and Field Athletes, Coaches, and Supporters, the Indians are champions of the district and retain the travelling trophy for the 18th consecutive year!

Not only did the Indians defend their Thompson School District Championship, but they also defeated 15 of the state’s best teams to win the Boy’s and Girl’s Overall Titles, as well.  There were many great accomplishments.

Adam Stark continues to show as one of the top athletes in Colorado.  He tied the school record in the 400m, won the 200m and teamed with Zach Weinmaster, Dominic Mascio and Kaden Morin to win the 400 Meter Relay.  The same foursome finished 2nd in the 800 Meter Relay.  Weinmaster added 2nd place finishes in both the horizontal jumps.  Jordyn Spencer led a 1-2-3 discus finish for the Indians with A.J Gerhard and Dylan Jackson.  Gerhard also won the javelin with a throw of 144-6. Other champions for the Indian’s on the boy’s side were Freshman, Mason Adams in the Pole Vault with a PR of 12-3, Noah Pangrac in the 300 Hurdles, and Zac Witman in the 1600 Meters with a nice effort of 4:34.  The Indians were in the top 4 in every relay, in the 15 team meet.

For the girl’s, the trio of Hannah Weinmaster, Blair Bernhardt and Tatm Rembao continue to pile up points.  They combined with Maraia Rubin to win the 400 relay.  Additionally, Weinmaster won both hurdle events, Rembai won the horizontal jumps, and Bernhardt won the 200 meters while finishing second in the Long Jump and teamed with Rubin, Anna Weissman, and Courtney Bale to win the 800 relay.  Bale also had a big day, running legs on the district champ 1600 and runner up 3200 relays and finishing 2nd in the 400 Meters in an all-time top 15 time of 59.79.  Joining Bale on the 1600 relay were Claira Gilchrist, who placed in 4 events, Weissman and McKenna Robertson, also a 4 event placer.  The throwers on the girls side were rock solid, with Wendy Dykstra 1st in Javelin, 2nd in Discus, Moira Dillow, 1st in shot,  Elana Gerhard, and Lauren Newman chipping in.  In perhaps the biggest event of the day, the Indian’s Triple jumper’s swept the top 5 places with Rembao, Shelby Buhler, Morgan Adams, Dillow,  and Morgan Driscoll.  Stormy Waggoner also won the pole vault.

Overall it was a dominant performance by the Indians.  Many young athletes contributed as well!

***************Another Change************

The Poudre JV Meet is tomorrow!  We had it scheduled on Wednesday.  Honestly, I don’t know where the communication got screwed up on this one, so, sorry for any inconvenience.

In case that causes any of our JV athletes too much distress, we have added a culminating event for them.  We will be attending a JV Championship Meet on Wednesday April 26th.  This meet will be targeted at our athletes vying for the 4th spots at conference, as well as providing a nice culminating event for the JV.

The varsity will be at Roosevelt High School on Saturday.

Thanks for your support!  Special thanks to those who came out for the R2J Meet!

Sorry again for the schedule change.  Have a great week!  GO Indians!

Weekly Update 4/12 R2J!

Updated on 06/10/2022

Weekly Track and Field Update

4/12/2017

Greetings and thanks again to all of you for your support of Loveland Track and Field.  Our athletes continue to rise to meet our expectations competing with the best teams from all classifications in Colorado.

This week is no exception as we host the R2J Invitational on Thursday, beginning at 12:30 p.m.  The meet features 13 full teams, 10 of which have won state championships within the past 4 years.  There will also be individual entrants from a few other schools.  In addition, scored within the larger meet is the R2J District Championship for the travelling trophy between Berthoud, Loveland, Mt. View, and Thompson Valley.  Last year was the closest ever with Loveland retaining the district crown narrowly over Mt. View.

We would love to see you all out in support of our team of athletes.  We could use some volunteer help, as well.  Every eligible Loveland athlete will compete.  We should be right there in the team championship competition, as well.  Generally, the meet wraps up before 7:00 p.m.  The meet schedule runs by the typical order which will be posted all around the track.  Come out and support your Indians!

On Saturday, we will travel to Berthoud for an in-district meet.  We will run limited events and allow athletes to come and go as long as they communicate with us.  There will be a bus to Berthoud at 7:45 a.m. for those who require transportation to the meet.   THERE WILL BE NO RETURN BUS.  Athletes can arrange for their own travel TO and FROM the meet.  We need to know, in advance, if athletes are getting themselves to Berthoud.  Coaches, parents and other athletes can help with returning athletes to Loveland or home.  MAKE SURE TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS for your child.

Look for next weeks note to highlight our athletes currently in state qualifying positions, (Top 18 in 5A).  Next weeks meets are JV @ Poudre on Wednesday and Varsity @ Roosevelt on Saturday.  A reminder that the Berthoud Meet on Saturday is the meet that was originally listed on the 20th

We focus on TEAM performance and defending the R2J Championship this week!

Go Indians!

Weekly Track and Field Report

4/1/2017

Good day everyone!  The Indian’s wrapped up the week with another outstanding performance at the Lyon’s Invitational!  Several Indian’s notched times ranked in state qualifying position, while leading the girl’s squad to a 2nd of 23 finish, and the boy’s to a 4th place finish.  Adam Stark continues to shine winning the 200m, while also running strong relay legs.  Noah Pangrac, Zach Weinmaster, Mason Adams, Zac Witman, Alex Hershberger, and Austin Jenkins, all placed in multiple events.  Both Hershberger and Witman put up the top times for sophomores in Colorado 5A in their events, the 800m, and the 1600m.

The girl’s were only beaten by #1 ranked Niwot.  Despite being limited in event participation, Hannah Weinmaster and Blair Bernhardt both notched 2nd place individual finishes in the 100 hurdles and 100 dash.  Weinmaster teamed with Tatum Rembao, Anna Weissman and Courtney Bale to finish 2nd in the 800 Relay, as well. Rembao and Bale were the Indian’s top scorers for the day, adding individual points to their relays as well.  Weissman placed in 3 relays, Claira Gilchrist in her first effort at the 300 hurdles put up one of the leagues fastest times.  Wendy Dykstra and Moira Dillow lead an improving throws squad.  Dillow also showed her versatility, running on two placing relays.  Other point scorers included McKenna Robertson, Callie Ketner, Maci Ames, and Maraia Rubin.

The weather chaos continues, so here comes the important stuff:

We have a few upcoming schedule changes.  So here are the dates and events to come:

1.  We will not attend the Fort Collins JV meet next week.

2.  We will have a pool workout available on Tuesday, April 4.  Bring swimsuits.  You do not have to know how to swim.

3.  The Mullen meet on Saturday is for athletes in the top 50 in all qualifications, in Colorado.  We will announce our roster of accepted athletes Monday or Tuesday, as they become available to us.

4.  For the majority of our athletes, the next meet will be the R2J Invitational which we host on Thursday, April 13.  This is two meets within one.  It is a 10+ team state qualifying meet, and also serves as the Thompson R2J District Championship scoring the boy’s and girl’s teams from Loveland, Mt. View, Thompson Valley and Berthoud against each other.  Since the meets inception in 2000 the Indian’s have won it every year!  It is our first HIGH PRIORITY meet.  We will get every one of our eligible and healthy athletes into this meet.  Until that time it is our intent to optimize the health and performance readiness of our athletes with 10 great practice days!  This is a critical part of our season plan!

5.  The Berthoud Max Marr Invitational will take place on Saturday, April 15th.   Our approach to this meet, only 2 days after the R2J will be to look at lesser, but more quality athlete entries.  We may have a few relays to look at, let athletes try events they haven’t yet had the opportunity to run, or give athletes a chance at running a state qualifying event fresh.  The emphasis there will be on quality, not quantity.

6.  The Berthoud Max Marr Invitational was moved from April 20th.  We will not likely replace that meet, as we have a JV meet already on the 19th, and another varsity meet on the 22nd.  I am fairly certain, that barring more snowstorms, that will be the end of scheduling changes.

Briefly, the next 3 weeks:   4/8  @ Mullen, (ELITES)

4/13 R2J Invitational (EVERYONE) we could use volunteers.

4/15 @Berthoud, Max Marr, (Varsity, some JV)

                                                4/19 @ Poudre, (JV)

                                                4/22 @ Roosevelt, (Varsity)

                                                4/28 @ French Field/LoboCat, (Varsity)

Thanks for your support.  It is a pleasure to work with your kids.  These next few weeks are critical to our end of season success.  We appreciate your commitment and that of your kids!

Important Weekly Update 3/27 CHANGES!!!

Updated on 06/10/2022

Good afternoon everyone.  Again, in order of importance, (in case, you stop reading)

-Both our meets scheduled this week have been changed.

1. Since Thompson Valley does not have a JV team, they are not hosting a meet on Wednesday, 3/29. We were able to get our JV team into a meet a Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins.  Official bus times will be released later, but expect to miss half of 7th period.  Meet time is 3:30-7:00 est.

2. Due to weather concerns, the Lyon's Invitational has been moved from Saturday to Thursday, 3/30.  Athletes will likely be dismissed at 10:00 a.m.  Meet is scheduled to run from 12:00-7:30 p.m.  Please make teacher's aware of pending absences.  Most of our athletes will attend one or the other, but not both meets.

REMIND YOUR SON/DAUGHTER:

We need to know at the beginning of every week if there will be practices and especially meets that they are unable to attend.  Unknown absences, even due to sickness are a gigantic issue with computerized entries for  meets.  Every Monday there are papers to be signed by athletes who cannot attend meets due to other commitments.  Make sure your child does this.  Also, if athletes are not attending practice, we assume they are too sick to be entered in meets, unless we are aware of extenuating circumstances.

More great performances:

The Indian's continue to step up and compete well against some of the state's best competition. This weekend at the 30+ team Broomfield Invitational the Indian's had 9 1st or 2nd place finishes, the 2nd most of any team there. Adam Stark remains undefeated in the 400m, the girl's 1600 Relay of Courtney Bale, Blair Bernhardt, Hannah Weinmaster, and Kennedy Burch, also won the meet and put up one of the state's best times.  Weinmaster placed in both hurdle events.  Brother Zach, also finished 2nd in the Triple Jump with a 43-1 effort that will bbe close to state qualifying.  Bernhardt finished 2nd in the Long Jump with a season best 17-5 inches, Bale was 2nd in the 400m, Wendy Dykstra finished 2nd in the Discus, continuing to be a podium finisher at every  meet.  Zac Witman ran the 12th fastest 3200 m in Loveland history, leading a distance corps that sets new personal bests nearly every time they run.  Mora Dillow, all the Indian Relays, Noah Pangrac, Charly Sanders, and Burch also contributed and scored for the Indians!  More later....

Lastly,

The Berthoud/Max Marr Invitational that was on our schedule for 4/20/17, is going to take place on 4/15/2017.  We are not sure yet if we will attend on the15th, or try to find a different meet on the 20th.  We will update as soon as we know.

Springtime in the Rockies: 3/22/2017

Updated on 06/10/2022

Springtime in the Rockies….and more.

First things first.  The Broomfield Meet has been moved to Saturday this week to accommodate the weather.  We will be making adjustments as soon as we find out how that effects our athletes.  The good news is that your child won’t miss school on Friday

Today, we have our Snap-Raise Fund Raiser.  We realize many of you and your relatives have already been inundated with fund raising requests, but we have to do them, and every little bit counts.  Even if you donate $10 and then go buy cookie dough, chocolate, coffee, pastries, or Oven Mitts at King Soopers, you will come out ahead.

Tomorrow, we have a JV meet at Loveland High School.  We will enter all our eligible athletes who aren’t entered at Broomfield due to entry or performance limitations.  It is an early season JV meet and our athletes are encouraged to branch out and try events.  They can enter any event they are safely capable of completing.

The deadline for Nike/BSN Gear on the link from yesterday, has been extended to Friday.

Sweat order forms will be available today.

We had some more great results at yesterday’s meet.  Loveland won 23 of the 36 events contested and easily won the boy’s and girl’s division.

Weekly Update 3/20/2017

Updated on 06/10/2022

Track and Field Update: Week of 3/20/2017

A Great Spring Break Behind us:

The Indians had some outstanding performances at our two meets over spring break.  Despite missing significant portions of our lineup, the Indians finished 2nd of 9 at the City to City Challenge, and 3rd, (B), and 5th, (G), of 26 at the Windsor Invitational, again, with many of our point scorers in Disneyland, sport tournaments, and laying on beaches.  We will get better and we are excited to have our whole squad take shape this week.

There were many notable performances, but there is so much to cover today, they will have to wait.

This Week:

We have 3 competitions this week and that should mean at least one opportunity for every athlete to compete.  We begin Tuesday in Berthoud.  Every eligible athlete will compete.   Because it is an in-district meet athletes are allowed to transport themselves.  There will be a bus that leaves Loveland at 12:30 p.m.  (Dismissed from class at 12:15)  Coaches need to know if your child is arranging to ride with someone in order to stay in classes longer, or because of some other reason.  THERE IS NO RETURN TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED FROM IN-DISTRICT MEETS!  Make sure to arrange a ride for your child home.  The meet will end around 6:00 p.m.

Wednesday we have to set up our Snap Raise Fundraiser at the beginning of practice.  Athletes need to bring a cell phone if they have one.

Thursday, we host a JV meet at Loveland’s track beginning at 3:00 p.m.  Athletes not running on Friday will be entered in this meet.  Our current varsity athletes will administrate the meet along with our coaches.  If you have interest, we would love to have more volunteers to help with this meet.  It should wrap up by 6:30.

Friday, we will attend a VERY competitive Broomfield Invitational at Broomfield High School.  The meet is an all-day affair, 2 buses will leave Loveland High, one at 9:00 a.m and one at 10:00 a.m.  Your child will know by Wednesday which bus they are on, with a few exceptions.  We should be home around 9:00 p.m. (Athletes are allowed to ride home with their parents).  It is important to bring food, drink, water, clothing for a variety of weather, etc. to an all day meet.

We will also have supplementary uniform orders Wednesday.

Finally, please remind your child to talk to teachers about upcoming absences.  Teachers always like to know in advance.

A Look Ahead:

After we survive this week, we should begin to distinguish who our varsity athletes are going to be.  We will also fall into a more understandable routine.  Commitment is our word for the season.  We want to act like champions, train like champions, and prepare like champions.  If we do, we will eventually be champions.

We have more new athletes and families than ever.  Please share this website with those wondering about all things track and field.  There will be another update, with some results, on Wednesday!

Thanks for supporting Loveland Track and Field!

Meet Information, Windsor Invite, 3/18/2017

Updated on 06/10/2022

Most important things first.  There is one bus.  It will leave at 7:15 a.m.  All participants need to be on the bus unless other arrangements have been made in advance.  Bus will return home around 5:00 p.m.

Athletes can be released to their parents.

Roster:

Morgan Adams, Maci Ames, Blair Bernhardt, Shelby Buhler, Moira Dillow, Wendy Dykstra, Elana Gerhard, Claira Gilchrist, Jackie Hayman, Callie Ketner, Lauren Lehigh, Morgan Madrid, Jaxin Melby, Lauren Newman, Rowan Renner, McKenna Robertson, Maraia Rubin, Jaycee Sanders, Stormy Waggoner, Anna Weissman, Hannah Weinmaster, Gabby Wells,

Mason Adams, Braden Deforge, Michael Deschene, Mateo Gamez, Anthony Gerhard, Alex Hershberger, Dylan Jackson, Austin Jenkins, Baylor Jones, Isaiah Meyers, Jared Myers, Noah Pangrac, Peter Ritschard, Yared Scalise, Josh Stackhouse, Adam Stark, Kellis Ward, Zach Weinmaster, Lucas Westbrook, Zac Witman.

This meet, like last last week is a great opportunity to learn, and get a head start on championship season.  We obviously will still not be at full strength, but Loveland will compete.

Next week is a bit chaotic with three meets.  Tuesday (ALL ELIGIBLE) and Thursday, (JV) , we can get in any athlete available.  Friday, at Broomfield, is a state qualifying meet limited to our top relays and top 3 individuals.  We would like to have a good idea of our plans going forward following this week.

We have a really quick season remaining.  It is imperative to our training cycles that we have the greatest possible commitment of time and energy from every athlete!

More to come after Saturday's meet.  Specific lineups are posted in the training room window.

Go Indians!

Indians Off to Strong Start

Updated on 06/10/2022

This Spring Break the Indians got off to a strong start over the weekend finishing 2nd out of 11 teams in a rare combined teams scoring system at the City to City Challenge in Greeley. The boy's and girl's scores were combined for this early season meet, but the girls placed 2nd in their division with 156 points while the boys were 3rd with 96 points.

There were many champions for the Indians, led by an outstanding day for Hannah Weinmaster who dominated the 100 and 300 Hurdles while also winning the 200 meter dash.  Her times of 15.85, 47.15, and 27.25 will put her among the state leaders (currently 1st in 5A in both hurdle events) after the first weekend.

Other individual champions for the Indians included Zach Weinmaster who went for the cycle with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the Triple Jump, Long Jump, and 100 Meters.  He also teamed with Kaden Morin, Noah Pangrac, and Isaiah Meyers to finish 3rd in the 400 Relay.  Tatum Rembao won the Triple Jump while adding a 3rd in the 100 Meters and a 4th in the Long Jump, and teamed with H. Weinmaster, Maraia Rubin, and Mckenna Robertson for 2nd in the 800 Medley.  Wendy Dykstra won the Javelin and finished 2nd in the Discus.  Courtney Bale emerged as an athlete to watch winning the 400 meters (62.05, 3rd best time in 5A over the weekend) and running outstanding legs on the 3200 and 1600 Relays teaming with Kennedy Burch and Claira Gilchrist, and Maci Ames, (3200R), and Rubin, (1600R). Gilchrist, 3rd in 400m, and Burch, 4th in 800m, were also multi-event scorers.  Moira Dillow finished 2nd in the Triple Jump and teamed with Rubin, Morgan Adams and Shelby Buhler to finish 2nd in the 400 Relay.  Elana Gerhard was 2nd in the Javelin. Stormy Waggoner tied for 2nd in the Pole Vault.  Callie Ketner helped bump the Indians to the 2nd place finish by winning the final girl's track event in a strategic 3200 Meter run (also won 3200 last season at City to City).

A.J. Gerhard was an individual champion for the boys, winning the Javelin with a throw of 141' 10.  He also placed in the discus.  Dylan Jackson placed in both throwing events.  Alex Hershberger scored in 4 events, narrowly missing winning the 800 meters with a strong closing lap and also placing in the 3200 Meter Relay with Josh Stackhouse, Jared Myers and Lucas Westbrook, the 1600 Relay with Stackhouse, Dominic Mascio, and Braden Deforge, and the 1600 run.  Myers, Westbrook, and Kellis Ward put up an impressive 5-6-7 finish in the 3200 (Myers and Westbrook dipped under 11 minutes for the first time) to cement the Indians' 2nd place finish in the combined scoring.  The 800 relay of Mascio, Morin, Meyers, and Deforge also placed. Noah Pangrac was 4th in both hurdle events.  Great progress and lots of points came from an improved distance and throws crew and our relays.

"Overall a great start for the team we brought to Greeley.  Obviously the Weinmasters were outstanding, but equally impressive were some of our new recruits.  If I am being honest, my favorite performances of the entire meet were by Courtney Bale, who finally became the athlete she deserves to be.  I am hopeful her performance will inspire some of our other athletes."

"The team really competed well.  We are definitely a work in progress and we need to get a lot better to defend our R2J title and to compete at the conference and state levels.  I can't wait to see this group come together."

Watch for more news on Wednesday regarding Saturday's Windsor Invitational.  Get in a GREAT spring break and come back ready for championship season!

Go Indians!  -Coach Q

There is also a team Spike Night Scheduled Thursday 3/9/2017. Athletes will get a flyer.

Weekly Update 3/6/2017

Updated on 06/10/2022

Greetings to all new and returning track and field athletes and parents.  We will be sending out a report each week outlining important issues, schedules, and themes for our student/athletes and parents.  Many of our coaches and athletes have been hard at it, some of our winter sport athletes are just joining us this week.

There are many fluid things about track and field and track and field meets.  Lineups, number of entries, and type of meet all influence who and how many athletes can compete.  Lineups and bus lists are usually not completed until the day before a meet.  That said, athletes will have a good idea whether or not they are competing early in the week.

Due to the early spring break, we have a few things we have to get out early.  I will try to prioritize them in order of importance.  All of these things are also addressed at practice and in the team handbook that can also be found on our web page.  This will be the longest weekly update, and the only one not to include results, but please, take a few minutes and read through this and every update.

-Our first two meets are THIS SATURDAY and next Saturday.  Athletes need to report to us, no later than tomorrow, if they are unavailable due to Spring Break.

-Wednesday, 3/8/2017, there will be a Parent’s meeting in Coach Q’s Classroom at 5:30.  He will answer questions and go over the handbook for anyone who is interested.  His classroom is 132.

-Thursday, 3/9, there will be a team Spike Night at a local running store, they will provide pizza, drinks and information about track and field footwear.  Athletes will get a handout about Thursday.   It is not mandatory, but if you haven’t purchased shoes, the company does kick a bit back toward Loveland Track and Field.  (We also have many pairs of spikes available for those who don’t wish to purchase new ones.  First come first served)

-Spring Break Track and Field Workouts are highly encouraged for anyone who is in town.  We recognize the importance of family and family time, each event coach will be handing printed guidelines to their athletes about what to do if they are unable to attend workouts.

-I will send an update to this report on Wednesday or Thursday, once we have finalized our lineups for Saturday that will include Bus times and meet schedules.

-Please visit our website through the Loveland High School website.  Under Sports, find Track and Field, then, look under files, to find our handbook, Top 15 records and other items of interest.

-Practices run from 3:22-5:30 every day and are mandatory.  We work with athletes with club sports and other responsibilities, but communication is KEY.

-Coach Q is best reached by email:  querep@yahoo.com or paul.quere@thompsonschools.org he will always respond within 24 hours to an email.

-Keep in mind, the track team has more than 100 members, it is best if your student/athlete attend practice and listen during team meetings.  With our numbers, it is easy to overwhelm a coach with emails and calls.

-Uniforms will be issued as needed this week Thursday.

-A Spirit Pack will be available for purchase soon.

Enough for now…

We are thrilled to have your child on the team and excited for another great track and field season.

GO Indians!
